About

A reference, not a shop

PepDex exists to make peptide research literature readable. It is free, has no accounts, sells nothing and recommends nothing.

What this site is

PepDex is an educational database covering 17 research peptides, a library of 6 explanatory articles and five calculators for the arithmetic that recurs throughout the literature. It is written for researchers, students and anyone trying to make sense of primary sources without a background in pharmacology.

Editorial principles

Research language, not marketing language

Entries describe what has been observed in published studies. Where evidence is preclinical or limited to animal models, the entry says so rather than implying human relevance.

The same structure every time

Every peptide page follows an identical ten-section layout, so a reader comparing two compounds finds the same information in the same place.

Adverse findings are included

Reported adverse effects appear on every entry alongside the areas being studied. A reference that only reports positive findings is not a reference.

Citations, not assertions

Each entry closes with a reference list linking to primary literature and review articles so claims can be checked at source.

What this site is not

  • — It is not medical advice, and nothing here should be read as a recommendation to use any compound.
  • — It is not a supplier. No products are sold, and no vendor is endorsed or linked.
  • — It is not a protocol source. Where dosing figures from studies are mentioned, they describe what was administered in that study, not a suggested regimen.

How entries are compiled

Each entry begins with the primary literature indexed on PubMed and, where available, published trial reports and regulatory documentation. Findings are summarised in plain language with the study type preserved — a cell-culture result and a phase-three trial are never described in the same terms. Entries are revised as new publications appear.
